False Ceiling (Drop Ceiling):
Suspended from the main ceiling using metal or wooden framing.
Used to conceal wiring, pipes, AC ducts, or lighting fixtures.
Can be flat or layered (multi-level).
POP vs Gypsum:
Gypsum boards are factory-made, pre-sized, and quicker to install than traditional POP (Plaster of Paris).
Gypsum is more uniform, less prone to cracks, and generates less mess.
Designer Ceilings:
Can include curves, recessed lighting (cove lights), layered effects, and 3D features.
Often combined with LED strip lighting, spotlights, or chandeliers.
Coffered Ceilings:
A grid of sunken panels for a luxurious and dramatic look.
Usually in living rooms or formal areas.
Frame Construction:
Metal channels (like GI sections) or wooden frames are installed as the ceiling’s skeleton.
Board Fixing:
Gypsum boards (typically 12mm thick) are screwed into the frame.

Joints and screw holes are filled with jointing compound and tape.
